Welcome to Off the Rails.
I’m Jayne, an Anglican deacon, writer and radio broadcaster, occasionally presenting the Thought for the Day segment on BBC Radio Four’s Today programme. I once was a curate, working for the Church of England, but then my life was completely derailed. I’ve spent two years trying to get things back on track and now I’ve realised that being off the rails is exactly where I’m supposed to be. Join me?
My book Waking the Women: Faith, Menopause and the Meaning of Midlife is out now and is published by Canterbury Press. You can order it by clicking here. It’s also available elsewhere online.
I’ll be sharing free essays, but if you take out a paid subscription you’ll be able to gain access to subscriber only posts, which will include occasional extra writing, an audio theological reflection on current affairs called Friday Thought and a newsletter on called Coffee in the Back Room, a catch-up and relaxed chat. These will arrive in your inbox once a fortnight. You’ll also be supporting my work and enabling me to continue writing.
Thanks for reading!
Best,
