Hello lovely people. Welcome to this week’s edition of Coffee in the Back Room. How are you all doing? At the time of writing, England’s fate in the final of the European Cup is still yet to be sealed but I am praying hard and looking forward to the final with excitement. My whole household is firmly behind England this time around unlike the divided loyalties of the last final against Italy. It’s tricky having two teams to support when they’re playing each other, but it does hedge your bets quite nicely across the tournament as a whole. England have never won anything in my lifetime and this is only the second final I’ve experienced, like most England fans! Seeing some of the scenes of jubilation and unbridled joy from the victories so far, I’m struggling to think of anything which compares to it. I shall be finding myself a beer garden tonight and settling in for what I hope is a victorious evening. I think the election of a new government has created an air of optimism, perhaps just because a change is as good as a rest. Could this be a good summer after all, despite the cruddy weather? Here’s hoping. On with the newsletter!
